Sonja Garlin, director of Trinity Child Care Center, is a certified teacher with more than 10 years' teaching experience in public and private elementary schools.  Most recently, Ms. Garlin was head teacher for three- and four-year-olds at Trinity. She is Trinity's third director since the school's opening in 2001, succeeding Erin Jordan-Perin in October 2013. Ms. Garlin has a long-held passion to show children the way to the future and to help them understand the secret of success. As an educator, Ms. Garlin lives by the motto: Each One Teach One.

Sr. Maeve McDermott, Founder of Trinity Child Care Center, is a pre-eminent educator with deep roots in the Bergen-Lafayette neighborhood and more than 50 years of devoted service to the children of Jersey City.

From 1978-2000, Sr. Maeve was co-principal of St. Patrick / Assumption All Saints Grammar School. In that role, she molded thousands of young lives—developing and sustaining a learning environment that combined educational excellence and sound moral values with a commitment to the well-being of each student.

In 2000, Sr. Maeve, a long-time advocate of Pre-K childhood development, embraced the opportunity to develop Trinity Child Care, a state-sponsored program for three- and four-year-olds. Under her guidance and benefiting from her years of educational experience, Trinity has become a supportive and loving environment for children, focusing on their intellectual, social, and emotional development and instilling in them a love of learning.

Although recently retired from Trinity Child Care, Sr. Maeve leaves with our well wishes, our love, and our thanks for a lifetime of dedicated service.
